I couldn’t think of a proper title.

So I finally got the part I was looking for — from a place in Gillman (I know, I hadn’t heard of it either) and had it installed and then the wheels aligned. All this took about four hours, but now, thankfully; it’s done with.

I wanted to open up MSN, so I proceeded to open it the way I usually do: by expanding the system tray and clicking the icon, and then clicking “Open Messenger”. However when I tried clicking the “expand” button on the tray, it expanded, and then quickly collapsed again before I could click the messenger icon. I tried again, but the exact same thing happened. On the fourth attempt, the tray stayed open. I went to click on the MSN icon, but just before I did the tray collapsed and my pointer hit the Internet Explorer Quick Start button instead.

Now, my laptop took five minutes to boot up IE (it just popped up then while I was typing). I could have tried to shut it down before it booted up entirely, but if I attempted that the laptop would only get confused and take even longer. When I opened the tray for the fifth time, the MSN icon wasn’t even in the tray any more.

In conclusion: I need a new computer.

Ha! My brother’s Toshiba craptop has the same … “quirk”. Might I suggest backing up everything of worth and performing a clean install of the OS?

Also: obligatory comment about Linux/OSX supremacy.

Am I the only one commenting here recently? Someone else say something!

I think it sounds like your laptop needs a fresh XP install.
